Review:
This was a massively disappointing thriller without much going for it. The main selling point here is that more is spent on the unhinged nature of the whole plan to get to her and try to ingratiate himself in her life, bringing together a squad of equally unhinged people to invade her home and try to force her into a relationship with him. That causes a slew of impressive sequences involving their deranged behavior trying to worm their way in normally into their lives before the zaniness of what's going on takes centerstage as he and his gang unleash a daring plan to go through with their bizarre wedding plans. The absurdity of these scenes and how they play out has a decidedly enjoyable air to them in the form of having enough action going on, which helps to move this one along well enough that it has some enjoyable factors to it.
Beyond that, there's not much to this one that really works. A lot of that is down to the bizarre and utterly offputting change of tone throughout here, where it doesn't come off as thrilling nor as funny as it wants to be. The whole scenario is so over-the-top that it's hard to imagine what's going on as something that's never all that threatening is going to happen with all the wacky behavior around them, especially when the other members of the gang are far more endearing and likable than he is since his misguided belief isn't all that well-fleshed-out so it's not that important to see him want to go through with it. That tends to be the biggest factor to be had with this one, since everything that occurs is based on how that takes place, and with nothing about it making for a worthwhile experience, it tends to leave this one dull and plodding for the most part.
Overview: **/5
While it's got enough to be watchable at best, there are some big flaws present that make this one quite disappointing, given how it's looked at as everything that could've been much more fun than it is. Those with an appreciation for this style or who are fans of the creative crew will have the most to like here, while most others out there should heed extreme caution.
